A Literary Home for Africa and Its Diaspora

The Library Of Africa and The African Diaspora (LOATAD) is a cultural and literary institution based in Accra that collects, preserves, and promotes books and archives by African and African-descended writers.

James Barnor: A Pioneer of Ghanaian Photography

James Barnor is a renowned Ghanaian photographer known for documenting everyday life in Ghana during the late colonial and early independence periods. His work captures social change, youth culture, and the connection between Ghana and Britain.

Felicia Abban: Ghana’s First Female Photographer

Felicia Abban was Ghana’s first female professional photographer. She opened a studio in Jamestown, Accra in 1955 and became known for her portraits that captured fashion and social life in post-independence Ghana.

 J. K. Bruce Vanderpuije: Documenting Life in Early Accra

J. K. Bruce Vanderpuije was a pioneering Ghanaian studio photographer and founder of the famous Deo Gratias Photo Studio. His photographs documented everyday life, important figures, and social changes in Accra during the colonial and early independence periods.
